I have been a COTA for over 20 years in the Bloomington/Normal area. I became interested in AT as a field about 15 years ago and have attended numerous workshops and conferences as well as taken a few classes. I have worked as an AT coordinator for over 4 years (9/03-5/07) at St. James in Pontiac and now for ISU. My title is HILIA AT Coordinator and my role is not yet completely defined. Areas of AT focus include computer access, AT for written communication, and switch use and progression to beginning communication. I have an interest in AAC and have taken the Aug Comm course from ISU but am not a SLP so have a working knowledge but not total expertise. I received my Assistive Tech Practioners certification in 10/04. I have also worked with Early Intervention recently and can't be happier to be back in the schools.
