Hi Kirsten
I hope you're keeping well .... it has been quite a while since we last touched base. I thought you maybe interested in to tapping in to some free online workshops coming up this week. I have pasted the information below for your reference. Fell free to share if you think it may be useful for others as well.
regards
Jim
...........I thought I'd send an open invitation to anyone wishing to tap into some free online events coming up early July.
The Special Education Expo (in South Australia) is held in the July school holidays.
The Expo web site is http://www.groups.edna.edu.au/course/view.php?id=1228 . A direct link can also found at http://web.seru.sa.edu.au .
There are 90 workshops and presentations on disability, learning difficulties, communication, inclusive technologies, well-being, and post school options.
For the first time, the Expo is trialling the live broadcasting of some of these workshops. The Centra page of the web site has all the details (including the software download and help files for attending a Centra online event).
To attend online sessions go to www.centra.sa.edu.au/main/seru . No Login required – just click Attend and follow the prompts. The sessions are being recorded and are immediately available for download after each session. (They are kept in the Public recordings section).
Hi Kirsten,
I will be at TRLD so it will be good to see you again! How have things been on your side of the States?

Hi Kirsten
Thanks for the feedback. My role is very heavily weighted towards training and development so I am running workshops on a weekly basis. As well as running them at my centre, the 20 laptops I use are a mobile training lab. They can be sent ahead to anywhere in the state ..... they have all the software required (BM, Read & Write, Clicker, ClozePro, Jigworks, SwitchIt software, heaps of other stuff including open source ).
It's a nightmare for those few occasions I have to take the stuff with me in a car. It's all the addons - web cams, microphones, power boards and leads, etc!!!!
I am currently thinking of developing some free courses for teachers on network tools... ie delicious and wikispaces to start with.
Anyway.. the AT Ning group woke from its slumber today! Everyone must be back from CTG by now. Did you go?
I have it on my wishlist to attend one in the next 2-3 years.
Hey Rob,
How are you? Good to run into you here, too. Seems we both managed to find our way into a classy crowd of good folks.
Go Ducks!!!! I mean, uh... Gators!

PS - Ben's now in middle school; Sam is in 4th & still IS a diehard Gator
Jim,
I'll have to check out your del.icio.us links, too. My 'work' is somewhat hybrid and serendipitous these days... I started out in special ed and early intervention, and found myself fascinated with the possibilities of assistive tech. Later on, I became the mom of a kid with Aspergers-ish traits, so that has become a priority for me. I do contract work for our local schools (an afterschool publishing program, a web site, training & workshops, mostly). Any you?

Hi Kirsten
I'm keen to find out more about your work. I linked to your delicious account ages ago because I noticed you have very very similar interests to mine.
