About Me:
I started out teaching K-5 Sp. Ed. for 5 years, then moved on to the Middle School for 10 years and back to K-5 as a Technology Integrator for several years. Now I work for Software MacKiev as their Education Sales Manager. I'm quite excited because we are now shipping HyperStudio 5! A long time ago I used HyperCard and HyperStudio with my Sp. Ed. kids and had great success. I'm interested in hearing from other who used to use HyperStudio. I'm especially interested in how you used it with kids with switches access.

Hi Jim, (Brian and Sally and others)

Thanks for sharing this information. I'm sure a lot of people here will take advantage of this posting!

I'm not working for Crick any longer. For the past two weeks I've been working for Software MacKiev as their National Education Sales Manager. Last week we were in San Antonio at NECC. I was working with Roger Wagner as Software MacKiev is about to release HyperStudio soon. Roger is back working his magic. And, Valerie Laird is heading up the HyperStudio division for MacKiev.

When I was a Special Education teacher I used HyperStudio with my students and they loved having the control of creating stacks.

I'm curious to know who else used HyperStudio with their Special Ed. kids.

We have a couple titles: Thinkin' Things and Thinkin' Things Science which are switch accessible and run on the Mac. I'm still very interested in keeping up in what's happening here on the AT Ning.

Best wishes,

Deb

Hi Deb
I hope you're keeping well ....would really like to hear what you are up to lately. In the mean time, I thought you maybe interested in to tapping in to some free online workshops coming up this week. I have pasted the information below for your reference. Fell free to share if you think it may be useful for others as well.

...........I thought I'd send an open invitation to anyone wishing to tap into some free online events coming up early July.
The Special Education Expo (in South Australia) is held in the July school holidays.
The Expo web site is http://www.groups.edna.edu.au/course/view.php?id=1228 . A direct link can also found at http://web.seru.sa.edu.au .
There are 90 workshops and presentations on disability, learning difficulties, communication, inclusive technologies, well-being, and post school options.
For the first time, the Expo is trialling the live broadcasting of some of these workshops. The Centra page of the web site has all the details (including the software download and help files for attending a Centra online event).
To attend online sessions go to www.centra.sa.edu.au/main/seru . No Login required – just click Attend and follow the prompts. The sessions are being recorded and are immediately available for download after each session. (They are kept in the Public recordings section).

The orginal SWAT team that was created had purchased STAGES. So far I have not done any direct evaluations with the students. I do want to update our version of STAGES to inclued the mathe an report wizard. I belive that when the teams see what it is capiable of they will be more willing to use it.

Hi Paul,

I discovered more great resources on SET-BC last night for curriculum support: http://www.setbc.org/pictureset downloadable visual supports and http://www.setbc.org/curriculumset/default.aspx - collection of resources that facilitate the sharing of customized technology-based content among educators working with students who use assistive technology. These resources are created in multiple formats!

I can't wait to see what I find tonight!

Hello Deb. Thanks for the comment on my wall. I thought I had goofed by asking to join the wiki. I had mistakenly thought I had to do that to add a link. After reading your kind words about SET-BC, I'm glad I goofed. I sure wish SET-BC would put Clicker Paint in its loan bank. Then you might see some resources for it in the Learning Centre.

Put the mouse over the record, have one student rap their poetry, writing, or the ABC's with a switch, their voice, a device, whatever. The other student can have a switch that clicks the mouse over the record to scratch!
