I'm new to the site, so I'm not sure if you know already, but Tobii just came out with the C12, which is a portable version. We are trialing it in late April. We are the first in our area to have a go!

there were 2 major problems.
1. it turns off after 10 minutes which makes requesting with it impossible since the images disappear after 10 minutes. we were hoping for more independence.
2. there are categories to choose from such as "dinner foods". once you choose this category, the chils can choose from these foods. if an error occurs the screen automatically reverts back to the category and the food items disappear. there is no room for self correcting.
the little girl i work with has been using a tech talk with a field of 8 for the past 3 years and is doing well. we primarily use it for requesting (manding) and she is very independent with it. when she errors due to motor difficulties she self corrects by pressing the correct picture once or twice. her progress surpasses what we predicted.
