Solutions for mobility with laptop, books and other assorted high school items?

Hi Everyone,
I am working with a team who have a student with unilateral left sided weakness in gross motor tasks. The student utilizes two braces for walking in the hallway. He currently has a book bag that he carries note paper, binders etc in from class to class. His textbooks are left in the classroom except when he needs them to study at which time a staff member will transport the books. We are trialing a laptop with AT software. We are struggling with the logistics of transporting the laptop independently from classroom to classroom. He is struggling to transport it in a bag. Our PT is not sure of any solutions. The team has ruled out wheeled option or carts because of his need to utilize two braces during walking. Any ideas?

What AT software is he using on the laptop? Check and see if he could switch from a laptop to a netbook, something smaller and lighter, but you'll want to find out if the AT is compatible on the netbook.
