Hi, my name is Laura. I am the AT "Coordinator" for a suburban public school district. I like to read what others are doing and using re: AT in order to get ideas and discover new things for my students. That is how I found this group. I've been trying to learn about the new eye-control technologies because I have a student who I think could use one. I've been reading about the devices marketed by Tobii, DynaVox and Prentle Romich. I read someone's Blog that said Tobii teamed up with one of these other two businesses; does that mean that their eye-control products work the same? I hope to hear some comparison regarding the devices. Thanks. Laura

Hi I am Freda Caufield and I work for the Beaverton School District in Oregon as the Augmentative Communication Specialist. I have worked as a Speech Pathologist, a Teacher of the deaf, and an AC specialist. I started my career in New York in the BOCES system in the early 80's. Since then I've ridden the wave of technology so to speak from Apple II's, Adaptive Firmware cards... all the way to the present where we have more dynamic systems then ever thought possible. I love my job! I've seen it change lives of my students and that of their families.

I look forward to learning from all of you and sharing ideas and frustrations!

Laura,

Each eye tracking device works a little different. Your best bet is to have the rep from each company come out and try it with your student.
