Help with NING Questions

Since the NING environment is new to most people I think we should have a place to post questions

We have 203 AT NING members as of tonight! That's fantastic. My question is... Should be we deleting our personal messages on our page or do they delete after a certain number of days? I'm not sure of the proper Ningiquette.

Good Question. If you have many and you don't want to roll down the page, you can delete.

How do you make a private message to someone on the NING?

At the very top of the page - next to your picture - click on the New Button - click Compose - click on the address book and you'll see your friend's addresses!!! (Good reason to have friends.)

How do you make an active link within a message? I want to link from words to a web page.

There are two ways to create an active link:

1. In the text box, there is a link icon. Highlight the text you want to link and then click the link icon. Type in the URL and then voila! It is an active link.

2. If the URL is stated in a standard form (e.g., http://xxxx.xxx), ning will automatically make the link active.

What is the purpose/advantage of having "friends"? I only have 2, never responded to them, have no idea what I am suppose to do with them... Others have many. What do they have that I don't have?
