Adelaide,
Yes, the link works. And embedding the avatar video is great for us to see how you are using this with your students.
(The ability to embed attachments is another wonderful feature that makes ning so powerful!)

I had a nice success with my new team that I am collaborating with. We are doing a curriculum building project and have really been rocking. It is amazing what you can create in a short span of time with others who are working to the same goal. I just started posting some of the work, as we are trying to share as much as we can. If you want to download the Word Wall letters are up on the wiki: novatlc.wikispaces.com

Hi

I thought you might be interested in this brief webcast describing the
college experiences of Beth Anne Luciani, a young woman who uses
augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and who has completed her
junior year at California University of Pennsylvania.

Please go to

And then click on

Click here to view the webcast as Breeze Presentation

The webcast is free, viewable on any internet browser, and features
interviews with Beth Anne, college faculty, and the Office of Disability
Services personnel at Cal U. Beth Anne is a very bright young woman with a
very strong work ethic, and she is also deeply appreciative for the
assistance provided by ODS at Cal U.

Hope you enjoy this! Please feel free to share this message and link with anyone that you think might be interested .....

David,

"Do it!"
Tremendous example of student success. Thank you for sharing this presentation - very thorough - it's a blue print for possible successful transition from HS to college for a student who is an AAC user. Wonderful that you included professor's words, as well as Beth Anne's words about her lack of college friends. Sad reality.
Great that you revived this topic - Now that it is the end of the school year, maybe others will share their students' successes.

Thanks to getting the idea from Pam Harris and her son, Josh....... through Samuel Sennott....... my son and I have started a Photoblog. We homeschool and started it because my son, Nevin did not consider himself a "writer" and would often shut down and actually "break a cold sweat" when asked to write a story. He also really struggles with the sequencing needed to tell a story, so the fact that Photoblog lets you upload the pictures....... and then add the sentences under each pictures makes "sense" to Nevin. He LOVES it. Some added benefits have been 1. that he has "connected" with a couple other boys who are photoblogging with us (who are homeschooled and special needs). We tried email "penpals" before........ but without a lot of pictures...... Nevin just couldn't connect. 2. Others that are involved with Nevin can now talk with him easier, because they know "his stories" by following the blog. 3. The blog buddies group (of 3 boys) are doing challenges each month for each other, where they pick the topic that they all blog about. 4. Nevin considers himself a "writer" now and is making great progress. I still type and facilitate construction of sentences...... but he's the idea man now! :) Check out Nevin's blog

I wrote a success story about a woman with RP who found her way with low vision equipment. You can read it from our online newsletter, which is a tagged PDF:
