Is anyone interested in forming a group that focuses on AT and learning challenges in the post-secondary setting? Or does one already exist on this site?
Hey Bridget
I just found your posting, after starting a group today for technology that can work with a student over the years from college-prep to college and beyond....sorry I didn't see your posting first. Perhaps we can see whether we'd be better off combining our efforts.
Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,
I'd be happy to team up. I work in post-secondary disability services and we are dealing with mostly LD's and ADHD, with some physical, psychological, and medical disabilities. Our main issue is providing course materials in alternative formats. We are in the process of starting up an in-house e-text production system (which sounds much fancier than it actually is!). I am also very interested in helping students with disabilities transition in to college, academic coaching, etc. If these issues are relevant to you, let's combine our efforts!

I would be very interested in joining your discussion. For the past 3 years I've been working with a University in New Jersey, and we've been working with students with learning disabilities coming into the University. With the center that provides support to the students we developed a 1 credit technology course that aligns with a 2 credit metacognition course the students take. The issues you are talking about are ones that we are dealing with as well.
Scott
Hi Scott,
I would love to hear more about your program. We do not have any formal program for students with Learning Disabilities but we are beginning a new First Year Experience program for all incoming students with and without disabilities and I am interested in incorporating metacognition into the curriculum.
